I’ve never heard the term Alt right until about two or three weeks ago.
Another made up word to attack the conservative base, now used by the media, and even some on our side.
The term Alt-Right has been around at least since 2008 when the great conservative scholar Paul Gottfried offhandedly invented it.
The term can mean a number of things. I suppose it’s most commonly identified right now with some young activists whose driving force seems to be a hatred of political correctness. They stir the pot by violating every PC shibboleth possible, and then stand back and watch what happens. Good taste and sound judgement aren’t exactly their strong points. Their enemies would have the gullible believe that they are a bunch of Nazis, an idea which some of the exuberant Alt-Right would egg on just to watch PC heads explode.
But again the term as Paul Gottfried used it means more than that, and includes thoughtful conservatives whose writing is outside what the hacks who comprise “Conservatism, Inc” want it to include.
