What’s the origin of “Snowflakes?” Is it that they’re northerners? They melt easily?

Snowflake = everyone is a unique beautiful precious individual, worth nothing amid the flurry of other flakes, and melts into oblivion at the slightest hint of heat.

It’s their own term used against them by simple logical extension.

Each snowflake is special and unique. No two snowflakes are exactly alike.
And they are very fragile and delicate.
