Watched an interview with Rand Paul regarding this. He made the case that a replacement plan must be at the same time Obama care is repealed. He made a persuasive case.
Two primary reasons. One, without a new plan in place, the few remaining insurers are likely to pull out, and or go bankrupt. Two, the chaos that would ensue while we fight the Dems over any replacement plan will be hung around the Republicans neck.
I tend to agree with his assessment that it’s political suicide not to have a plan passed along with repeal. Now that doesn’t mean the plan should not be a move back to a more free market approach. But rather have that free market approach phased back in in an orderly manner.
Whatever one’s position may be regarding government’s level of involvement with health care, it’s a given that some of the more politically popular elements are going to be readopted. Not saying we should, it’s just where we are IMHO.
yeah, i saw that too, and I agree that Rand made a VERY persuasive case about how things need to be done with respect to repealing and replacing obamacare.
