FULL TITLE: Convicted killer who was first US inmate to receive state-funded sex reassignment surgery is finally moved to a women's prison
The first US inmate to receive state-funded sex reassignment surgery has been moved to a women's prison.
Convicted killer Shiloh Heavenly Quine, 57, was taken to the Central California Women's Facility on Wednesday, after previously serving time behind bars at a men's prison.
Quine, who has been living as a woman since 2009 and is serving a life sentence, underwent the sex reassignment surgery in December.
California prison officials agreed to pay for her operation in 2015 under the Eighth Amendment, which requires prisons to treatment for medical and mental health conditions, including gender dysphoria.
Her case led California to become the first state to set standards for transgender inmates to apply to receive the surgery.

It’s hard to believe the prison system is being forced to play this game. And, it is a game.
Yes. Or the inmates at the women’s prison will somehow offend or discriminate against this freakoid, and someone will decide his civil rights were violated, and he will get some $$$ or other special accommodation from the state. It will just go on and on for CA on this one.
It is absolutely sickening that taxpayers are forced to pay for this.
Huma can get a nose job and her boss can get a bunch of much needed hag face surgery for her next run while she is in the klink.

no wonder obamacare policies are so ridiculously expensive. wouldn’t the average person like to save money on a health insurance policy that didn’t cover sex change operations for convicted killers?
And continue to pay for it. The various medical and cosmetic treatments to maintain gender transformation are not cheap. I expect CA to bend over backwards (no pun intended) to maintain the treatments in order to keep this prisoner silent.
Would be ironic, if after all of this, for the female prisoners to murder him/her.
If Californians want to pay for this, fine. Just don’t do it in a Federal prison.
Murderers don’t deserve a dime of taxpayer’s money. It should have been put to death before they could have even scheduled a surgery.
Especially for someone who should be dead. First degree murder? Why is this thing even still alive?

“Quine and an accomplice kidnapped and fatally shot 33-year-old Shahid Ali Baig, a father of three, in downtown Los Angeles in February 1980, stealing $80 and his car during a drug- and alcohol-fueled rampage.
California was legally required to pay for the operation, corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton said.
“The 8th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution requires that prisons provide inmates with medically necessary treatment for medical and mental health conditions including inmates diagnosed with gender dysphoria,” Thornton said in a written statement. “

So the cruelly-murdered victim has been in his grave for 37 years. His family has been deprived of him. But let bygones be bygones, I guess. What’s important now is that the murderer have a satisfying life behind bars. The Constitution “requires” it.
