I had a neighbor like that. A native born Israeli, who had been a soldier in the six-day war. He came to the US (after being rejected from the Technion) and went to school here, becoming a mechanical engineer specializing in heat flow. A smart enough guy.
He married a woman from Manhattan who became a lawyer.
Both of them bought into the liberal, NY Times crap without any critical thinking. Although he grew up on a kibbutz and thought socialism was cool, he was one of the most materialistic, brand-conscious people I’ve ever met.
They buy into the line that the Jews could have had peace in the middle east, but for the fact that they over-reached after winning wars that they were forced into. They buy into any story that paints Netanyahu as corrupt. They believe Trump is a stupid racist.
I find it amazing.
I also have a cousin (Jewish heritage here) who lives in California, and is a lock-step liberal. I hadn’t seen her in a while, and she was shocked at how I saw the world. Interestingly, although she has a Master’s degree in education, she was completely ignorant of history. She adopted left-wing politics as a substitute for religion.
Hard to believe... but true.
