Interesting. So he had a warning. Why two printed? Puts all of them in question.

To be fair to him, he had what he assumed was The envelope, and he probably didn’t look at the cover of it, they read the nominees, and he opened the one envelope he had, assuming it was correct. Then he sees it read “ Emma Stone - LaLa Land.” So he didn’t read it aloud. He looked in the envelope for another card. He looked at the monitor to see if it would help. Nothing. Faye is growing impatient. He shows her. She reads the film title, ignoring the Emma Stone name.

And the fact that there were two identical Emma Stone actress win envelopes doesn’t put any wins in question at all. There weren’t two winners of best picture.

I read an article that there are two copies of each envelope.

This is because the presenters walk onto the stage from either the left or the right, so there have to be two stacks of envelopes, one at each stage entrance. The stacks are held by the two employees of PriceWaterhouse who are the only two people anywhere who know the results.

One of the accountants screwed up and handed the 2nd copy of Emma Stone's envelope to Beatty.

They obviously don't trust the presenters enough to hand them the envelope more than a instant before they step on stage, worrying it might give them time to sneak a quick peek and inadvertently let a spoiler slip.

Geewhiz, I don't get it. Aren't Hollywood actors the most trustworthy, honest people in the world, who we should be taking all of our cues from, re what we should believe when it comes to politics, morality, religion, etc?

What a shocker: That "Brokeback Mountain Boyz in the Hood" won the best picture?
