SpaceX launches it's first recycled Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, using a booster that sent food and supplies to the astronauts living at the International Space Station in April. Includes some random bystander footage near the end.
So weird how it trails out horizontally or parallel with the earth.
Video was cut on booster landing.
I hope it landed ok.
So the rocket itself didn’t have cameras so we could see the earth on take-off? That would be exciting. And novel.

The first stage cameras look backwards, towards the ground, but they have to be focused on the engines to troubleshoot problems, and so can’t clearly show the ground 30-60 kilometer below.
I’d just appreciate one actual photograph of earth from the space station.
No one at NASA comes up with anything but Blue Marble earth paintings, some of them with “SEX” written into the “cloud cover” (that is supposed to be twirling at up to 1000mph).

So what do you think we’re on? What shape is it? What does it look like? How would you go about getting far enough away from it to take a picture of it? In taking the picture, how would you deal with the orders of magnitude in brightness difference between what we’re on and the stars in the background?

I guess I think both the US and USSR were trying to answer your questions when they performed atmospheric nuclear tests in the late fifties/early sixties. Operation (ahem) Fishbowl, Operation Dominic (look that up in Latin) etc.
