Trying to call this to someone's attention. She did not even mention that the Democrats changed the rules from a 60 vote majority to the 51-49 rule. She made it sound like the Republicans were changing the rules.

The Democrats didn’t change the rules for SCOTUS nominees, just regular Federal judges, so Obama could pack the courts with nincompoops................

Plus, Thomas and Alioto were confirmed with less than 60...so she was wrong again...

It’s always only taken 51 votes to confirm a Justice. It takes 60 to defeat a filibuster.

They are talking about the mere force and logic of tradition (”but, we’ve always done it this way!”) It has been in place for less than 100 years, for a third of that span nominees didn’t even appear at hearings. Since Bork, it’s a whole new ball game. Respecting tradition in the face of fundamentally changed conditions (because tradition) would be very stupid. I say blow it away with a relatively uncontroversial nominee like Gorsuch, then it’s not even in the picture in say, July when Ginsberg or Kennedy resigns and Ted Cruz can be nominated. Not only will their heads blow up, but Ted will mercilessly eviscerate the Democrats in a confirmation hearing.

I also “hoped” Rush would help too, but instead he inferred that Tom Brady is taking performance enhancing drugs so he can keep playing so well after age 40. Rush lets me down now and then.
