UPDATE: Civil rights group to file judicial complaint against judge who praised rapist during sentencing

(KUTV) — Fourth District Court Judge Thomas Low had glowing praise for a man who was convicted of molesting two female relatives while they stayed at his home three years ago.

"The court had no doubt that Mr. Vallejo is an extraordinarily good man," Low said just moments before sentencing Keith Vallejo to prison for sexually abusing the two females. "But great men, sometimes do bad things," Low continued.

If great men do horrible things then they are no longer great men.

Then the court has raised serious doubts about it's judgment. Ordinarily good men do not sexually molest female relatives, let alone "extraordinarily" good men.

The real story is how the “bishop” was even charged much less convicted in Utah.

Well, if Joseph Smith who founded the LDS church could marry at least 40 women, including women married to other men and girls as young as 14, and still be considered the most godly man who ever lived according to the Mormons, then surely this LDS bishop who forced himself on only 2 women can be considered “an extraordinarily good man” by this LDS judge.

if i am reading the fine print correctly he could be released in less than 1 year.

10 concurrent 1-15 year sentences
is the same as a single 1-15 year sentence

which could be a one year sentence

which could be much less than one year time served...

From the update article it would appear that heavy pressure was being applied to this LDS judge to let the rapist bishop off:

http://kutv.com/news/local/civil-rights-group-to-file-complaint-against-judge-who-praised-rapist-during-sentencing

“Some have asked if the judge and Vallejo knew each other, given Low’s growing praise. The answer is “no.” It appears the judge garnered his respect for Vallejo from some 50 character letters sent into the judge to support the former bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”

Only 50? He should have been able to generate 10x that many. I worked contracts in Vegas during the boom and hired several Mormons To hear them tell it the bishop rules over them.
