North Korea's soldiers mostly carry fake weapons during their mass-scale parades, a former US intelligence officer has said. Michael Pregent believes many of the arms flaunted by menacing-looking North Korean troops during their displays are dummies, and claims even their sunglasses wouldn't be fit for combat. Pregent was asked to look at photographs from an April 15 military parade in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang.

Have been saying this for a while now. The dipsh** is afraid of his own shadow.
I just have a gut feeling that with a great strategy mapped out, we could cut down their lines of communication in no time and crush them with incredibly superior technology.
Not saying NO ONE will die, but beginning to think it won’t be much harder than the gulf or iraq war.
the soldiers are starving and now we are told they carry fake guns.
I doubt Kim was even there. I watched the parade. He was obviously indoors. Probably afraid of drone strikes.
Why do the bad guys always goose step when they march?
The fat boy’s biggest threat is from the Little men in uniform with big hats who follow him copiously taking notes, some of whom would like to have his power and would think nothing of putting a bullet in the back of his head.
Boy you are right.
Even they know he looks like a class A idiot blathering about nuking this one or that one.
It’s almost comical.
Seriously, we are setting requirements for sunglasses used by opposing forces in battle. If they wish to use inferior safety gear and weapons who are we to criticize.
I expect an actual conflict would be very short, with the NK army doing little more than fleeing.
Problem is SOME norks would fire on Seoul, with real effect, prompting (justifiably) an extremely vicious response.
Remember Gulf War II. In what some dub “hyperwar”, the government of Iraq was deposed within hours and obliterated in about 2 days. Most people fail to differentiate _that_ war with the subsequent war of occupation, where the enormous power vacuum from deposing Saddam was _not_ suitably & swiftly filled by a ready-to-go puppet regime.
Ideally we’d see something comparable. Best we could hope for is the US executing an incredible 5-minute first wave taking out some 30,000 artillery pieces on the NK south border, punctuated by dropping Rods Of God on the nuke & ICBM sites, and the next hour flattening all probable hiding spaces for Dear Deposed Leader. Rest of the day would be dropping “You’re free” leaflets & MREs. Next day, China would roll in a puppet regime ready to rule (hate to say that, but if we don’t let China have NK then we’re going to get into a full-on war with ‘em).
American soldiers march.
Paper dragon.
That article was a bit much. Full of really basic stuff masquerading as analysis. One of the gems was he doubts the AKs were even loaded. Ask anyone of our soldiers marching in a parade. When I was in one such formation with a veep attending, they removed bolts from our rifles.
And he opined that the chromed AK was probably painted. Plating isn’t exactly hard to do, or expensive at all.
I agree with tweaking them a little here and there. But a parade will never feature loaded weaponry, live RPGs, etc.
But very weird parade, as usual.
My favorite was the sunglasses on their commandos. Helps keep their identity secret!
When god was making people, he was carefully making them all look unique. When he finally started in Asia he was kinda tired. He threw up his hands and said “oh screw it...”.
They march as per their old Soviet Red Army drill.
Which came from the Tsarist Russian Army.
Which was copied by the Russians in the 18th century (by order of Tsar Paul, a Prussophile) from the Prussian drill of the “Old Dessauer”, Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Dessau, who served Frederick I of Prussia, and was the architect of the Prussian Army that Frederick the Great inherited.
Why ‘crush’ the North Koreans at all?
In reality, there is no difference between ‘north’ or ‘south’ Koreans...only a political line in the sand, mostly drawn by forces foreign to Korea.
I think there is a chance to unify Korea. What would happen if somebody paid off the bad haircut guy to go live on an island somewhere...and both sides de-militarized the border?
China would roll in a puppet regime ready to rule (hate to say that, but if we dont let China have NK then were going to get into a full-on war with em).
This would spare China the cost of supporting/occupying the North, eliminate both a crazy neighbor and forward base of a potential enemy (US). Seems to me like China would be better off in the long run.
We can just go over there and fry their computers...
My Dad fought in WWII and Korea. He told me about the North Korean soldiers that would come at them all drugged up, with tourniquets on their arms and legs, and with wooden guns with a regular knife taped on as a bayonet. He said they would kill US soldiers with the knife if they could, or beat them with their wooden guns. He said they were so drugged up that they would take five rounds in the chest and just keep coming -— like fighting zombies. We need to hit these guys from the air, or from as far away as possible if this becomes necessary. If this ever escalates to hand-to-hand combat it won’t be easy or fun for anyone.
