If I (the US president + Congress) could pay Kim 100 billion dollars or so and give him one of the Hawai’ian Islands to leave to demilitarize the border, I’d do it in a heartbeat. But then, I’d also pay all democrats and RINO’s cumulatively 5 trillion dollars, with only conservatives and libertarians in Congress. In three years, that 5 trillion debt would be gone; in 8, the US would be in a surplus and the entire planet would be on track to freedom. But that’s just me.

To be blunt: This would subject N. Korea to an economic boom which would threaten the Chinese / US Democrat / Globalist agenda (all related). This is why Democrats in the US are gung ho on advancing socialism and communism around the world in general.

In general, ALL political answers can be determined by one of two directions: Complete world subjugation by an elite cadre controlling the masses of humanity in depraved or highly suppressed conditions, or complete world freedom based upon individual rights and voluntary societal associations that transcend geopolitical control. Figure out the narrative of the agent defining his position, and it’s easy to determine the answer for anything.

If East Germany is any indication, the boom would not be that fast. It would take years, if not decades. China is, and historically has been the region’s cultural superpower. A unified ROK with no longer any need for US troops would pose much less of a threat to Chinese domination of the region than the current situation with US troops acting as a tripwire against aggression.

While the Chinese people are not “free” in our terms, I believe that they are freer to do what they want (save politics and some religion) than they have in a long time. Certainly life is freer and better in China now than it was 35 years ago. I’m just thinking that from a Chinese point of view, it might be better for China to let Koreans sort out Korea.

I don't know about actual 'spooks'...hard to fit in and all...but probably paid informants. I saw a fascinating documentary on smuggling in North Korea. The contraband includes music players and video players...and DVDs, CDs, memory sticks etc. loaded with western movies and music. Merely owning these items will land a North Korean in a rock quarry for a few years.

But if the Nork people are risking their lives just for a Britney Spears CD, they're probably ready to risk it all for freedom.
