Garoppolo’s big mistake, stemming from inexperience, is when he got injured earlier in the 2016 season, he didn’t know how to protect himself. I have always felt that is a learned experience, knowing how to fall or take a hit.
Granted, sometimes there is no getting out of an injury, but the players that are durable have figured it out to a degree, IMO.
Whoever gets him is going to get a good one. There aren’t any really good quarterbacks in this draft who would be a consensus #1 pick or even a “sure thing”, though there are some with potential.
The advantage they would have over Garoppolo, IMO, is their rookie contracts. When Garoppolo signs his next contract, it will be big.
If he gets traded, you get him with a year playing under his rookie contract which will pay him $820K this coming season.
I think the Browns are making a mistake not trading for him.
The problem is the Pats are demanding way too much for Garoppolo. You can likely have AJ McCarron for less than NE is asking, who’s a more seasoned QB, one who’s played in more games.
