From Scout’s Eye: 9 Draft Prospects Who Could Make Sense For Cowboys On Day 3--

Here are few more my Boys can peruse for pick or sign as free agent:

Ohio LB Blair Brown: Short but super productive. Film is outstanding. All over the field making plays. Going to be a steal for a club.

Michigan TE Jake Butt: Injured in final game of the season, but by all indications the knee is healing well. Don’t count him out for the season.

San Diego State RB D.J. Pumphrey: All-time leading rusher in NCAA history. Short but explosive. Can run and catch but size limits him as a blocker.

Tennessee WR Josh Malone: Size with route running ability. Big catch radius. Makes a ton of plays on tape.

Colorado S Tedric Thompson: Was overshadowed by Awuzie and Witherspoon at Colorado, but solid player.

Bucknell OT Julie’n Davenport: Long, rangy athlete. Has those traits you are looking for in an offensive tackle. Would be a developmental player.

I especially like RB D.J. Pumphrey that could be a sure addition to the running/out of the backfield passing game.

Your old Dallas Texans finally took a stab at a QB in the first round, the first time since 1983. I’m pretty stoked at least they are now trying to get a franchise QB. Sounds like Patrick Mahomes II is pretty raw but has a huge upside if Andy Reid can work his magic getting the best out of him.

My beef with my Chiefs for a long time has been they haven’t even tried to draft early a chance at a franchise QB. I’m pretty happy for at least we are trying now. Most franchise QB’s come from the 1st round and a few from the second round. It is pretty rare they come from after that unless you are Dallas, twice (Romo and Prescott) or the Patriots (Brady). While not all 1st round QB’s pan out, it is the best odds of finding your own franchise QB for your team.

I feel like a big monkey has been lifted off of Chiefs fans backs. I hope for the best with Mahomes II and he is a big part of the Chiefs, and your old Dallas Texans, future.
