President Donald Trump signed a six month waiver to delay moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, despite his campaign promise to do so. In a statement, the White House said Trump was still committed to to his promise, but made the decision to delay the move of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem for the sake of peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

I am VERY disappointed to hear this chickening-out of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. This was a major campaign promise. Too many campaign promises are being put into reverse gear, from what I see. Jerusalem must be recognized as Israel's capital, as it's been a fact for thousands of years. We must build the wall without delay. We must leave the U.N. nest of vipers and kick them off U.S. soil.

Ugh. Although getting out of the Paris climate thing was more important. I say it was an 80 percent day for the President. This is disturbing but not nearly as bad as it could be have today.

Maybe Israel doesn’t think the symbolism is worth what it will bring.

We don’t know what Israel told Trump on how THEY want to handle this issue during negotiations.

“peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine”

And what blithering fool thinks there is ANYTHING to be gained by such negotiations?

How many times have there been agreements, along with concessions by Israel, that were not immediately reneged on by the ‘Palestinians’ once they got what they could? Zero.

You want peace in Palestine? The only solution is medieval.

“We don’t know what Israel told Trump on how THEY want to handle this issue during negotiations.”

Exactly. We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes.

The so-called Palestinians do not want peace.
They want Israel destroyed.

There is no point in trying to appease them.

Did POTUS give a reason as to why he was doing this? All I know is he promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem when he was asking for our votes. Congress authorized it a long time ago. Now he is blocking it????

“Did POTUS give a reason as to why he was doing this?”

If I was to take a guess it would be a bargaining chip in the talks with Abbas. I am quite sure Bebe is in on it.

“The only solution is medieval.”

It does not matter how successful “the enemy” or father of the lie is, at some point in the future, it will come down to globally “medieval” exactly. The human heart is more than capable of being just gruesome.

I know it won’t happen, but it would be safer for the US to have our embassy in Jerusalem - if there were a decisive defensive/kill zone in place at least 100 miles to the east. Even then, we may well not be able to keep our people alive in the event of what I believe to be the likely or inevitable future pan-Arab attack on Israel.

What would really smash paradigms is if the US Embassy location itself were incorporated, or even central, to a new air defense system to protect Israel.

We should put a protective shield over Israel and just nuke the ME.

I am VERY disappointed to hear this chickening-out of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. This was a major campaign promise.

This is merely a delay. After today, do you honestly believe that he won't follow through with this campaign promise?

Everything in its time.

You know darn well that Jerusalem will ultimately be recognized as Israel's capital by the US. In any event, your characterization of the President as "chickening-out" is ludicrous on its face.

The hand-wringers just had to latch onto this news in order to have something to fuss about today. This delay was made for thoughtful and logical reasons, and there can be little doubt where the President's policy goals remain.

Fortunately, President Trump seems to have a much better sense of timing than his overly eager detractors...

"negotiations between Israel and Palestine."

This use of the word "Palestine" is Islamofascist propaganda.

Palestine is the Roman name for Israel. It is not a modern state separate from Israel.

The move is not a one way street. Israel should have a say....and I believe it is actually up to them. I don't have a problem with this decision.

As far as being a campaign promise....let's call it what it really is...."an intention" not some swear on the bible promise.

Promises are IMPORTANT.

This one was NOT blocked by Ryan and McConnell.

There are over 20 million Christians in the Middle East, the vast majority of them outside of Israel.

Did you ever stop & think that NETANYAHU requested this?

Security wise, and in terms of ramifications this is massive for Israel.
Entirely possible that just like our Congress wasn’t ready to repeal Ocare cuz they never believed it would happen, I think the Israelis never thought a Pres would really DO this and are unprepared.
