That’s a good visual description of what is happening in the YouTube comments and the Bethesda subreddit forum since their E3 conference. Biggest backlash I’ve seen, uh, well, since Bioware took a big, fat SJW dump on the Mass Effect series a couple of months ago.
As usual normal people like you and I have found a way to make a little money entertaining people, and big companies had to take their cut for doing just about nothing.
The game mods are a great way for Youtubers to make money - Creating entertaining videos for publishing on Youtube. Now of course, Youtube/Google/Alphabet want their cut for hosting it (Which is like building a car only for the parking garage to charge you $499 a month to park it while you make $1 profit on it’s use) but now the game company found a way to cash in on it as well.
Paid mods are great for some things, but there is no way they’ll make a dime on things like... I dunno.. Rick&Morty mods.
GTA could have a wonderful world if they would support the mods already out there - zombie mods and the like would be great sellers without the Youtube part of the equation.
