You see what you want to see. The problem isn’t Pixar, the problem is you. The ball can be displayed at many different angles which will not resemble a star and crescent. What a coincidence that they just happened to pick this particular angle.
They didn't even get it upside down.

That’s the angle the ball first appear at 30+ years ago. You should invent the time machine so you can take it up with them in 1986.
