I will be in Maryland this weekend for a wedding/family reunion and was thinking of checking out Ocean City, of which I’ve heard mixed reviews.
I grew up in NC. No one in the Carolinas goes to Myrtle proper. We all went to North Myrtle, particularly Cherry Grove and Ocean Drive. Myrtle was a destination for Yankees and Canadians.
Outside of a quick trip there offseason for business where I met my customer and left, I’m not your guy.

That's because it is. Most of the folks visiting are down from the Charlotte area, which has become full of transplanted New Yorkers and Jerseyites. It's why we packed up and moved from a Charlotte suburb to the mountains.

I’m afraid you’ve been introduced to the different rules of debate that apply to some posters. But kudos to you as you’ve identified how they operate. But the sad part is they don’t see it.

Actually, this forum explicitly does NOT allow racist posts. It’s particularly disgusting when some try to be sneaky about it and then mock those who confront it. Good way to get zotted.
That being said, some of us find using Christ’s name as a curse word to be MORE offensive than racism. Who deserves more respect, the Creator or the people He created?
Myrtle Beach always had a bit of a shady side but it was contained. You didn’t see it unless you sought it out. Now that it’s practically Vegas without (legal) gambling plopped down on the Atlantic, the shady has broken out of it’s traditional confines. I haven’t been there since the eighties other than one trade show for business and neither has any of my family, despite my parents having gotten married there.

Various units of government are turning more and more areas into habitat for wild animals. Those who are not thrill-seekers should use common sense and stay out of those areas.
It's the philosophy I follow on the community FB page that was bequeathed to me.
I’m not so sure they feel sorry afterward. But I agree with everything else you said.
