The dam at June lake started to fail at about 10:00 last night.
Hot weather, snow melt, followed by thunderstorms.
Many cabins washed away, evacuation orders in place.
More hot weather due.
Is this being reported in your area?
Dam shame.
Thanks but don’t post cryptic stuff without any info.
Suspect a fraudulent story here, but will keep alert for more info.
Nothing on Google news.
Bad news. We need more dams retaining fresh water. Not less
At first I thought the title was DEM washed away. :) But... never mind.
Don’t see anything on Twitter either...
Al Gore invented the internet for this?
There appears to be no reportage.
If you examine the thread with your usual powers of Great Discernment, you will discover that the very first post is a request for confirmation.
The second is a ping to a FReeper more-or-less in the area.
Your move, I'll even let you borrow my shovel...

Fake News
My source is a man whose character and veracity I trust totally.
If he has not been mislead, neither have I.
He is a firefighter in the California sierras, and in a position to know.
I certainly trust him more than the MSM.
Still, my requests for more information stand.
Did it happen or not?
What is the context. Was the dam on June Lake?
Were people hurt? Were people able to evacuate?
What are the consequences, ie is Mammoth in danger of flooding.
I’m not saying you you shouldn’t post on this or say it.
I’m saying it is very frustrating for people who have family living in that area to hear such cryptic information.
I hope so.
But would you fail to report a potential disaster if you heard of it from a trusted source, knowing that people down stream could survive if they were given a head’s up?
I did a search, seems like June Lake has a FB page, did you try that?
https://www.facebook.com/junelakeloop/
You have family in the area?
WHY HAVEN’T YOU CALLED THEM?????
If not to warn, at least to find out if this is true.
As I said, my only source is someone who is in a position to know, but a single source hardly suffices.
It was said to be the dam on June Lake.
I know of no casualties. Some cabins have been washed away.
I share your frustration.
I don’t *DO* facebook.
I trust FR. If it’s true a FReeper will know, doncha think?
