Technical explanation of varios interconnects from hardware vendors focusing on AMD's answer to manufacturing problems with LARGE monothic chips which have low yield with the latest lithography fabrication methods.
INFINITY FABRIC - WHY ITS AMD'S BEST WEAPON AGAINST MOORE'S LAW
Weapon against Moore’s Law? You don’t break Laws. Laws break you. You learn to live and work within Laws.
The bottleneck will be getting software that uses multiple and threads.
Yes, and that is what they did,...obviously.
Browsers are doing that,...Firefox is.
AMD reports it’s earnings next Tuesday. The stock has not done much since the beginning of the year. From Jan thru Dec 2016 it went from about $2 to $15
Moores Law is not a law of physics. In actual fact it started out as a short-term prediction by Moore, and has been generalized from in the next few months to an open-ended projection about the future.IMHO Moores Law is more of a statement of the value proposition of developing smaller, cheaper transistors. That is, it reflects the fact that the demand for transistors has expanded geometrically as the cost of producing transistors has shrunk at a corresponding negative exponential rate.
If somehow society got saturated with digital electronics - if everyone had an iPad and no one wanted anything else - Moores Law would collapse because there wouldnt be any money in developing smaller transistors.
You dont compare Moores Law with the Perfect Gas Law, you contrast Moores Law with the famous statement of the IBM exec who thought that there would only ever be a market for a handful of computers.
In 1992, a physicist invented a concept that would drive a new type of computing
The five qubits (dark squares in center) in this quantum computer from IBM exist as 0s and 1s simultaneously
The burning issue is: “Can quantum computing do neural network processing?”
