It’s not really gambling if they won’t pay out.

I agree I hate Lotteries.....as far as I am concerned it is a stupidity tax. I have a problem with government being involved in any form of gambling. I also hate it when gambling is referd to as economical growth for a community.

The truth that gambling is economic masturbation....it creates no product provides no valued service all it does is rearrange where the money is being used in the economy.

I have no problem with a private citizen having a sports pool or playing poker but when government is involved or big business there is a problem because it is an economic stream that benefits only the government or the big corporation. it does not grow the economy in any way.

“states shouldn’t be in the gambling business in the first place.”

It depends on how it is applied. In Nevada, during fiscal year 2014, more than $2.0 billion in taxes and fees were paid by Nevada hotel-casino operators. This included major contributions to Nevada’s three largest sources of revenue: sales tax, property tax and gaming tax. Nevada hotel casinos account for nearly $1.4 billion, or approximately 45 percent of State General Fund revenues – more than any other industry. These funds can be applied, and is, to security forces, infrastructure, trash reclaimation, schools of which they have four within the top 200 rated high schools in the nation using funds coming from the gambling to assist, .

So don’t think states shouldn’t be involved with the gambling. It is a simple way to increase needed funds for populous required services. And taking it from the front, cuts out the middle man for profits.

I see you prefer compulsory confiscatory taxes to voluntary methods of raising money for government. That’s what the lottery is, voluntary. you don’t like it don’t play and don’t spend your money.

or we can just have taxes under penalty of prison.
