I read the article, and their “expert” thinks it is a Japanese Aichi E13A, but it isn’t that either. Or some kind of Zero or Zeke variant.

I am sticking by a Dauntless.

If it is a Zero, that would be a GREAT FIND!

There are very few intact Zeros!...................

That is definitely not a Dauntless wing. The air brakes are missing and it is just the wrong shape.

I agree. Dauntless. Look at the dive flaps (air brakes). Dauntless had very unusual flaps with all the holes in them to slow the aircraft down in a steep dive. The flaps here look like that.

I am sticking by a Dauntless.

The sweep at the rear of the wing into the fuselage is wrong for a Dauntless. I am trying to find US aircraft in my collection of ID drawings and can't find any to match. I think it is Japanese.
