BS - kick them out and make them re-imburse any medical costs we paid for their ‘dementia’...

I think that isn’t the only operation they get. 20k just for mutilation of penis, but they do not stop there. US military/taxpayers pay for these, so I am sure they get the full list done.

OF COURSE!!!

We pay millions for umpteen studies to try and justify the policy and sensitivity training for all the normal people, THEN we start paying SERIOUS money for medical procedures, follow ups, pharmaceuticals, etc etc.

There is one stone cold fact. Anytime a Liberal says something will cost too much, the exact opposite is true.

Oh, c’mon, everybody knows that it will actually cost way more than that — at least eleventy billion dollars.

Wow! How stupid do they think all of us are? Can there actually be more than 4 of these mentally ill perverts in the entire military?

I signed up for a plastic surgery email. Lots of trannies get lots of plastic surgery on their faces. One had ribs removed, I assume to get a smaller waist. They usually get their jaws worked on, too.

Exactly how long have “transgendered” been allowed to openly serve? 10 years, 5 years, oh wait, it’s been less than a year. And now we find that there are 10s of thousands of them in the service and it will cost $1 billion to get rid of them? That’s absurd. The best argument I’ve read is that they should not serve because they are like diabetics, requiring a constant supply of meds, that could well be disrupted in combat situations, to maintain their well-being.

No one is screaming that patriotic diabetics should be allowed to serve, but “transgendered” should be? I use the quotes because I am so old that I believe that no matter how much you wish or feel that you are the opposite sex, you really are what you are. I wish them no ill, but I refuse to validate their madness.

Wait, I thought it only cost a few $100K for all the overhead to have them in. I’m confused...

That list comes to about 100k maybe.

Quick rounding addition, I got around $130k. And the female to "male" surgery is about the same price.

Of course, those price lists didn't include anything after surgery - It had some 2-3 day recovery rooms, but anything after that wasn't listed. Neither was any hormones or other drugs that you'll be taking for a long time after!

Making this issue about money really misses the point.

Making this issue about money really misses the point.

Actually, that's the entire point of the article. Arguing other benefits (removing people with hardcore mental issues) isn't fully valid in the context of the original post. Yes, it's part of the big picture, but doesn't refute the article exactly.

***Not really responding to you, this is more to the thread in general. ***
Did anyone here even read the actual report? I know maybe 25% of FR clicks through to the article, so maybe 5% total went past to the actual report?

So, how did they get this number of 'savings'? Per the report, they took the estimate of 12,800 supposedly 'transsexual' servicemembers, and multiplied it by the average cost to train a new soldier ($75,000). They DID NOT subtract any savings from removing these people, they ONLY looked at the direct cost of replacement of that number. They do state they think it would save $8M per year, but they don't subtract that amount from their cost. (Padding the number for the title.)

The personnel number. They take surveys that claim 21% of 'transsexuals' have military service, and there's 700k estimated in the populace. In the rest of the population, 5% of men and 10% of women with military exp are currently serving. All those numbers mean there are 15500 trans, but lowered because of the military downsizing. Therefore 12800. All based off of surveys and guesses. If you want a more accurate number, here's my estimate: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3576763/posts?page=121#121. Based on hard numbers from the CG (13 out of 73,000), and extrapolated to the other services, I got around 400, tripling to 1200 to account for guys that haven't 'come out' yet. (Although they shouldn't be counted, as they cost nothing and, not being known, wouldn't get kicked out either!)

Cost. They somehow get an average per-person cost (for those who need it) of $30k for treatment, with a yearly cost of $656. From looking through a few websites, $4-500 is the cheapest amount for hormone therapy, usually closer to $1-2k a year. And this doesn't include seeing a therapist who 'helps' you pretend to be what you're not. (I doubt the Army has many of these people around.) So our yearly costs (either before or after surgery) are definitely much higher than just $700 per. Then the $30k average also is estimated off the general populace, where people are free to cross-dress and don't always get the full surgery. AND they have to pay for it themselves! Out-of-pocket! But most trans who go into the military to get the surgery paid for are likely going to get the full suite, not just breast implants or vocal alterations. I would guess the average for military trans is going to be much closer to the $100k figure, as anyone who is out and wanting any treatment is going to be going for the most expensive treatment they can get, and the cheap ones aren't going to out themselves, thus wouldn't be getting kicked out/needing to be replaced.

And, this doesn't include the indirect costs to the military of having personnel not doing their job and needing other soldiers to cover their duties, readiness dampers, morale hits, follow-up support for the trans, counseling, admin/paperwork, time wasted developing/giving briefings on this crap, etc.

Funny, they even mention the CG numbers, getting 585 total SMs who think they're trans, meaning their report even has the low-end cost at only $32M, not $900M. The high-end estimate is $1.3B, so HUGE variable there. Final numbers, of course, pretty close to the high end, making for a better look-at-me title!
