The Yankees have been totally screwing the small teams and to a lesser extent the rest of the league by balancing their illegal payroll numbers with TV revenues from local and national deals like with ESPN. They have been sniping players from all over the leagues with offers to the players for astronomical numbers then getting hammered with the luxury tax. This has been happening every year since 2003 and the team was willing to prostitute itself out to the camera to cover the loss. They have payed $324 million to the league since the inception of the competitive balance tax initiated to protect the small market teams from actions like this. And according to the AP, they still owe $23.4 million dollars for the 2016 season. This bill is so high they pay installments. And it is in direct violation of the act but they don’t care as they cover it with tv contracts. They then raise the prices to help the offset. According to the NY Post, Yankee Stadium has been run like a clip joint.

Baseball has it’s goods and bads. Maybe during the years of the Dimaggio and Ruth the fan was given a brake. But today’s Yankees are the most money hungry franchise in professional sports. And the fan is nothing more than a means to an end.

The league never ever should have let George Steinbrenner back into Baseball and should have made him sell the franchise. He was nothing but a greedy crook.
You do realize, don’t you, that this Yankees’ team was primarily built from the farm system.
