It seems that most Republicans have a pretty dim view of most national Republican office holders, yet continue to reelect their own Republican squishes.

There either have to be a lot of Dims voting for the most leftward Republican candidate in open primary elections or Republican primary voters tend to be low information voters.

Every election cycle my Reliably Republican brother and I argue the old canard about “withholding your vote is the same as voting for the dhimmicrat”. this off-season cycle is no different, but he was shocked when I told him that I had actually started in 2013 (after the infamous romney debacle).

I vet candidates very closely and won’t waste my vote on anything less than conservative (one would be surprised how many pubbies aren’t conservatives). I’d rather not cast a vote at all rather than vote for a cur. And if someone I supported fails to deliver then no more support from me. I’m tired of rewarding scoundrels who betray us.

We recently went to a district Republican picnic to meet prospective candidates. One of them is Dave Reichert - a US Rep and a true traitor to the cause.

I got a golden opportunity to shake his hand and tell him how much I admired him when he was the county sheriff. And then to tell him how disappointed I was in his voting record and that I would never cast a vote for him again.

I don’t know who had the more shocked look - the candidate or my brother.
