Being capable of expansion up to 900 per cent when electrically heated to 80 degree Celsius via computer controls, the autonomous unit is capable of performing motion tasks in almost any design, researchers said.

That is quite a bit of heat (169 degrees F).

An important detail omitted is recovery. How long does it take for the ‘muscle’ to return to its relaxed size? Does the muscle require a cooling system?

This may be an important breakthrough but I can’t judge with the meager info here.
