Basically, that is what a Continental Breakfast is. Continental is referring to Europe as opposed to and English, Irish or American Breakfast. Normally a Continental Breakfast is a cold breakfast with coffee, tea or orange juice. There are bread rolls, often croissants. And with them there are cheeses, jams, and cold cured meats. All of this is available on a sideboard and generally is served without table service. This breakfast is often provided free with a room at a hotel or bed and breakfast.

I had that kind of continental breakfast once at a hotel in St. Louis . I am from German stock and while my Americanized family never had this kind of breakfast, I did recognize the German cold meats being served, including a blood sausage.
