A Jacksonville elementary school has returned toilet paper to its bathrooms after an Action News Jax story aired Friday evening.

Carter G. Woodson Elementary School had been refusing to put toilet paper in the stalls there

Instead, parents told Action News Jax, teachers at the Magnolia Gardens neighborhood school were handing wads of toilet paper to individual students, as needed.

Half an hour after Action News Jax’s story aired, Duval County Public Schools spokesperson Laureen Ricks called the newsroom to say toilet paper has now been returned to the stalls.

Because we must never forget...Memories of Sheryl Crow and Laurie David’s proposed limitation to one square per restroom visit.

The overwhelming majority of the students — and staff — of The Carter G. Woodson Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida, have something in common.

Can you guess what that something might be?

Give those people a week of letting students hand out toilet paper to the teachers.

How humiliating to ask for this. As a little girl, I would not have been able to ask someone for toilet paper and probably just would have held it until I got home.

Jacksonville public schools are just a mess. They have some decent ones but if your kids can’t go there, anybody with two nickels to rub together sends their kids to private school.

Maybe the school staff got sick of unclogging toilets plugged with toilet paper.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Isn’t anyone going to ask why? There are schools where the little darlings use the toilet paper to clog the toilets, then flush them until it overflows.

Oh we know why it happened. however it’s a very extensive problem. One that involves fixing family life ie having a father in the home. That can’t be solved over night.

The “students” were jamming entire rolls into the toilets, flushing, and flooding the bathrooms and surrounding areas.

Damage and disruption ensued.

I know this as my wife is a teacher in the Duval County Public School system.

Carter Woodson, the school's namesake, wrote the book The Mis-Education of the Negro (Washington, DC: Associated, 1933). This most certainly sounds like a case of mis-education.

I figured this was the case.

My kids are elementary students in DCPS.

which is why I live in St Johns county where we have the best schools in the state, and it neighbors Jacksonville. Just goes to show how two counties next to each other are managed.
