KGB thought LBJ was behind Kennedy assassination

The Soviet Union theorized that President Lyndon B. Johnson could have been behind JFK’s assassination — and also feared Moscow could be blamed and attacked, according to documents in a major release of files related to Kennedy’s slaying on Thursday.

The Dec. 1, 1966, FBI memo, which relayed unconfirmed speculation, noted that sources said the KGB “was in possession of data purporting to indicate President Johnson was responsible for the assassination of the late President John F. Kennedy.”

The memo, which was forwarded to the White House by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover with the all-caps title “REACTION OF SOVIET AND COMMUNIST PARTY OFFICIALS TO THE ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY,” said:

“KGB headquarters indicated that in view of this information, it was necessary for the Soviet Government to know the existing personal relationship between President Johnson and the Kennedy family, particularly that between President Johnson and Robert and ‘Ted’ Kennedy.”

In the days following JFK’s killing, Moscow believed the slaying could be used by rogue American military leaders to whip up anti-Soviet sentiment and even lead to an attack.

Soviets feared dark US forces were “interested in utilizing the assassination and playing on anticommunist sentiments in the United States,” according to the FBI.

“Our source further stated that Soviet officials were fearful that without leadership, some irresponsible general in the United States might launch a missile attack on the Soviet Union.”

Kennedy’s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, lived in the Soviet Union for nearly three years from 1959 to 1962 and married a woman from Minsk.

The release of documents was made to satisfy a 25-year deadline set forward by the Oct. 25, 1992, enactment of the JFK Assassination Records Collection Act.

I believe it. I also believe JFK Jr. was bumped off. He was going to come out of the closet as a Republican. There goes the women vote. Democrats couldn’t handle that.

That has been brought up before.

Ted Kennedy would never have allowed him to do that.................

“I also believe JFK Jr. was bumped off...”

Yes, he was bumped-off.

He was running for the Senate (primary) and was likely going to win.

Who was it that became the Senator from NY instead of JFK Jr.?

LBJ sure was a very anti-Eisenhower kind of guy, and a perfect "military industrial complex" deep state stooge.

All followed by the Vietnam war, of course.

I always thought LBJ was behind the Kennedy assassination. It happened on Johnson’s home turf and he had the most to gain by far. Its no secret that Johnson resented Kennedy for “stealing” the 1960 Dem nomination from him.

I think Ted Kennedy was a dirt bag, but not enough of a dirt bag to aid in the assassination of his own brother.

Definitely. The Clinton Crime Family would have no problem paying off an airplane mechanic prior to Jr.’s flight.

Wondering... did any airplane mechanics in that area “commit suicide” shortly after Jr. died?

That is true.

I have thought that Oswald was a patsy for LBJ’s FBI co-conspirators.

Same with MLK assassination. James Earl Ray did not kill MLK, the FBI did.................

I’ve always believed Johnson was up to his elbows in it. He was the original Hillary Clinton.

Eisenhower was the complete deep state stooge. His speeches said one thing but his actions said something else. He is famous for the military-industrial complex quote and he should have known. He was their guy for a couple of decades.

Check out The Politician by Robert Welch.

I always thought LBJ was behind it. Especially since JFK picked him as VP to get him out of the Senate as much as to win Texas. Bobby rarely showed up for work after the assassination and LBJ replaced him with Ramsey Clark after he was elected.

“He (LBJ) was the original Hillary Clinton.”

He was a composite of both Clintons — as crooked as Hillary and as perverted as Bill.

"He was their guy for a couple of decades."

That puts him in WW2. There was no CIA.

Maybe you are thinking if the FBI?
