A self-checkout counter.
My local Walmart installed them, and almost immediately removed them. Maybe this kind of activity was the reason.
A semi-intelligent checkout person would know that a computer doesn’t cost a couple of dollars.

My local Walmart installed them, and almost immediately removed them. Interesting! We've had self-checkout lanes for a few years and this W-M just had a huge million dollar refurb. The new self-checkout lanes are now HUGE.
Things are different here in GreenAcres! I have seen W-M employees pursue shoplifters here and call the SO.

A self-checkout counter.
2 grocery stores near me put them in a year or so ago. One store removed them after about 8 months. Once I watched the area when wife was shopping and couldn't believe the amount of stuff that went out the door without payment. Saw one lady empty her shopping cart but left, easily, $400 of meat, fish under the cart basket. Paid about $100 and out the door she went.

I guess it depends upon the location. The Walmart I go to has installed another section of the
self check out machines on the opposite side of the store from where the originals are installed.
