Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby, and a handful of other Republican senators called on Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore to withdraw from the race if a report that he initiated a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl in 1979 is true.
Shelby, who backed Luther Strange in the primary but did not go on to endorse Moore in the general election, agreed.
"If these allegations are true, there is no place for Roy Moore in the United States Senate," he said in a statement.
Arizona Sen. John McCain tweeted that the allegations were "deeply troubling and disqualifying."
Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake shared that sentiment in a tweet.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, said she was "horrified" by the allegations and also called for Moore to withdraw if the reports are accurate.
Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado says, "The allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore are deeply troubling."

..... IF ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE!!!!!
The swamp fights dirty which makes it nearly impossible for good men to take it down.
They’re going to lose Congress in 2018. They’re losers and they like it. If they can’t even pass tax reform, they ain’t worth the gas to get to the polls.
Mitch McConnell, Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby ... (”who backed Luther Strange in the primary but did not go on to endorse Moore in the general election”), Arizona Sen. John McCain, Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado.
A who’s-who of worthless, feckless, Big Government Republicans. Roy Moore should wear their disapproval as a badge of honor.
“This is a coordinated attack on Roy Moore.”
I expect that any Senate primary candidate that Bannon backs who declares he/she will not vote for McConnell for Majority Leader will get this same treatment.
I don’t think the voters in Bama will fall for this garbage...
I don't either. In fact, I bet a lot of them are starting to question Shelby.
DECEMBER 12
It is so blatantly obvious that this is a coordinated hit piece by the GOP RINOs and the Washington Compost, it is laughable.
Moore should stand on his vehement denial and demand proof of these allegations. Put up or shut up.
Thank you!
“This is going to happen to pretty much ever Republican male who runs for national office from here on out.”
Yet they consider Mike Pence a dim bulb because he insists his wife attend official meals. etc. with him.
I believe Pence understands temptation and perception, and seeks to avoid problems at all costs.
As a Jewess on the US, I can only point out that the number of women who allegedly DATED, but had no sex with, Roy Moore is EXACTLY the same number who accused President Clinton of FORCIBLE RAPE, a FAR more serious offense. Now we know why all REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST. Just sayin’!
