"And once again I’ll point out that Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing. "

"Politics is a scam" ?

Tell that to Jewish people living in Germany during and after WW2.

I applaud you for your optimism but saying politics is something that can be ignored is just plain dangerous and a direct threat to every one of the things you deem important.

I understand and agree with your thoughts there.

We don’t get to choose who the mothers are though. The Liberal mother is not just a waste of time, she brings everything down. If only folks could understand this. I’m talking all settings too.

Hopefully rising tides will float all boats, and ease the down-sides of unhappy homes in areas of poverty. No, it won’t solve all issues. Some moms will get work, and for their families, things will get better. Each encroachment like this is good.

I understand the dynamic you’re addressing.

You know, generations have a way of surprising at times.

I wonder if we’re not going to see a revival of better values in coming years.

It’s easy to understand why they wouldn’t, but as I said, things have a way of surprising us.

I do not see the use of birth control as wrong or evil.

It helps people plan better for their family situation, making sure they are settled before filling the nest.

If the egg has not been fertilized, I see no loss of life and no harm no foul.

I don’t profess to be the moral conscience on these matters. I’m simply expressing my thoughts, which could morph over time.

I appreciate your thoughts on it.

Interesting that you bring up Nazi Germany as an example of why we should involve ourselves in politics. I would use it as exhibit “A” of why Christians should have nothing to do with electoral politics. Don’t forget that the NSDAP won a plurality of the vote in Germany. After rising to power, adolf was probably the most popular political leader in his own country, ever. So much for the ability of politics to select virtuous and Christian leaders. What Jews in pre WW2 Germany did or did not do politically wouldn’t have mattered one iota. Ultimately the German culture of that time was looking for a NSDAP or something like it. They got it, in spades.

The lesson for Christians in my view is not to be ignorant of politics but to avoid it like we would a den of venomous snakes. Secular politics is not our mission or a way of achieving anything of lasting worth for our faith.

Wow! You should make that statement to the Jews today and see if they agree. I promise you they won't. Ever hear "never again". What do you think they mean by that? I can tell you it means any politician even gets any ideas and they will be talking to an UZI real quick.

Ha ha re parish statistician.

I keep the church directory.

We’re a small church and know each other very well!

So it was easy to do, took me two minutes. I was curious where we fit into the stats and I must say I am pleased with us.

I like the attitude behind “Quiverfull” but don’t think it’s Biblical orders. Good as a preference.

Were we all to embrace quiverfull the world would be a way better place in 30 years I’d say wouldn’t you? Overall.

But “stewardship” is also important. It is biblical and it matters. We must be honest about it. We are to provide for our families and if we can’t I’m not sure we should keep turning out kids, for example. Or if you get severe anemia for a year after having one and you already have four. Or etc.

“Yeah, but the muzzies will make up for that, with their 4 “wives”, rapes, and sex slaves.”

Meh, not to underestimate them, but with their serious interbreeding, extremely high murder rate, warlike tendencies, and tremendous ex muslim problem I don’t think they’ll get much further.

I’ll oppose them at every turn of course.

"...the Jews..."

Im guessing you mean Israelis?

Most American Jews are East coast liberals and relatively few American Jews have that mindset. In whatever mythical world future dystopia that you are envisioning that "never again" is triggered, of the remaining group half would jump into the oven to save Gaia and the other half will be the first internal victims after the national socialist subgroup they belong to turns on them.

Yes you are correct. I mean Jews in Israel.

Jewish people in the US are something entirely different. They are almost exclusively left wing. In reality they are not really Jewish at all. (JINO'S - lol)

Screwed up women should bring one child into the world and let a religious family raise it. Good for their PHYSICAL health as their body’s defense mechanisms develop. Mentally they will go to bed every night crying about the one they gave away. Still it’s better than crying(when convenient) over the one they aborted.

Jews made up less than 1% of the German population when the NSDAP took over. The German population was incredibly anti-semitic by contemporary standards and the political strength of Jews was at best negligible. So was their ability to resist physically, given the weimar gun law of 1928 and the NSDAP edict of 1938.

The real world choice German Jews faced in the 1930’s was flee or die. Israel didn’t exist until 1948.

As for “never again” I have heard that. Unfortunately it’s a hollow catch phrase as the post WW2 history of China, Cambodia, Congo, Bosnia, Rwanda, etc have shown.

Demographers study the phenomenon that when a given country reached an economic plateau unique to it, the birthrate quickly drops to just maintenance level of around 2.3 children per family.

Most recently this is happening in several Arab nations as well as Mexico.

However, while government cannot typically *raise* the national birthrate, government and the prevailing culture can effectively *lower* it further, so the population will be in decline.

This is the trap of “stewardship” and “provision”, because both of these are government and culturally determined standards. That is what the government and culture *demand* of parents as the quality of life of their children.

Other than the basics, every single addition to the quality of life demands convinces more parents to have fewer or even no children. Often based on crude materialism.

This is the big breakthrough inherent in Quiverfull, and other organizations with similar goals that might exist in the future: to be able to meet the *needs* of their children, not the *wants* of the government and culture.

But wait, there’s more. When the government and culture insist that higher education is a requirement for children, typically with egregious student loans, this handicaps these children by breaking their timetable after graduation, making it much harder for them to get married and have children themselves.

That is, when people graduated from college after WWII, most of them had no, zero resources. But they had the education to make money, and from that point what they made, less taxes, meant they could get married, mortgage a house, and have children.

Today, graduating with a much less valuable degree, with both men and women deeply in debt, they have to *delay* marriage, children, and home ownership. And these delays can be fatal, “starting out” decades later, if at all.

The alternative, not a doctrine of Quiverfull, but might be for similar organizations, is to disdain college education entirely, spending those years earning money, so that they can support their spouse and children.

And there’s the bottom line: no matter how you as a person define success in your life; if you do not have descent, you will have failed.

It will not be the meek that inherit the world; but the children of parents that put their children at the head of the list of important things in life.

“Wow you are on FR and think Christians shouldn’t be involved in politics?”

Yup. I sure do. My views have evolved but I think the last 40 years has shown that involvement by Christians in secular politics has been a disaster.

You will know a tree by its fruit. And what fruit has secular politcs borne for Christians for the treasure and time they have devoted to it? Is infanticide illegal? Are Christians no longer forced under penalty of law to compromise their beliefs? Are the government schools tolerating prayer? Is the country more moral or Christian because of our embracing secular politics?

The answer is a resounding NO. Yet we continue to pour treasure and time into a political black hole rather than spend our efforts doing what we’re told by the Bible to do such as prayer, charity, and evangelization.

If the definition of “cognitive dissonance” is speaking an uncomfortable truth, than I guess I’m guilty as charged.

You bring up a very good point. And if I thought that Christians involving themselves in politics was merely an exercise in futility I wouldn’t be here

The problem is it’s worse than that. Politics is actually harming the Christian mission. Having Christians go along with the idea that one political faction is somehow the Party of God is harmful to evangelization. Further, allowing ourselves to be tied to secular politics diminishes our ability to act in accordance with our faith. Finally the unchristian behavior that politics seems to bring out in people is not something we should embrace.

Feminism was a death sentence for western civilization.

Then radical Islamists take over the West. Kill all our feeble men and "marry" our women.
