The Russians kept many there after the war, and the treatment in them didn’t differ from the Germans. Yes very much so. And today, while Germany officially recognizes their wrongdoings - Russia does not, give or take one or two meager monuments to Gulag victims.
Rather, at the behest of Putin, Stalin is once again glorified. “For saving the world from fascism.”
This holds the country back.
