My bro lives in an area dominated by preppers. Heavy iron gates defend long dirt lanes snaking into the woods.

I thought it would be fun to create a decal with really serious looking graphics, with tiny print saying This property under surveillance by the United States Sedition Prevention Agency.

Just a little 3 x 3 decal on the posts of prepper gates.

Really long article and I might have missed the part about comms. Is it me or has this important facet to prepping been left out again?

The Rockford Files: Coulter City Wildcat

Gerald A. O'Malley: [Jim calls Mr. O'Malley - a slightly paranoid survivalist with a bomb shelter out back of his property. Jim calls him, pretending there's about to be a nuclear attack, in order to get Mr. O'Malley safe, by having him get into his shelter to avoid thugs coming to kill him. He doesn't have time to explain the truth.] Hello?

Jim Rockford: [Usiing a southern drawl] Mr. Gerald A. O'Malley?

Gerald A. O'Malley: Yeah?

Jim Rockford: Yeah, this is Roger Martel, sir. Kern County civil defense.

Gerald A. O'Malley: [Happy and eager to do his part] Yes sir! What can I do for you?

Jim Rockford: Government agencies have informed us that the Che Guevera unit of the ALF is planning to detonate eight jerry-rigged nuclear devices in Bakersfield, unless some federal prisoners are released by daybreak this morning.

Gerald A. O'Malley: Now, wait a minute. What's the yield, man? What's the yield? Am I in the kill radius?

Jim Rockford: We are not sure what the yield is, but you're correct in your assumption. You are in the kill radius.

Gerald A. O'Malley: Well, you're very calm about it! I've written you people letter after letter about this kind of thing, and you've ignored it! Now - now you're, you're certain that she's going to blow?

Jim Rockford: Just in case, sir, my advice would be to proceed immediately, and I repeat, immediately, to your bomb shelter. We've already had some leaks on this, and as your neighbors may come seeking protection from you, and no doubt they would be armed and desperate...

Gerald A. O'Malley: Oh, shut up! I've got 1 million things to do here!

[O'Malley slams down phone]

O'Malley gets into the shelter and closes the hatch as the thugs pull up and commence firing.

Montana, Idaho and Wyoming

Never understood Rawles' thinking here. Living primitive is enough work without needing 5 cord of firewood and not having fuel for a chainsaw.

Good soil but short growing season so that means a lot of work preserving food.

Those trappers who lived up there a couple hundred years ago were a tough lot. Probably tougher than most anyone these days

I know he feels that a nuke on the west coast will be aimed at Cali and predominate winds will bring fallout to the Midwest but what if it's aimed at Alaska and they overshoot the mark and hit Montana/Wyoming, carrying fallout to the Upper Midwest?

sudden escalation of the North Korean crisis under President Donald Trump’s regime

under Trump’s tenure, without an outright campaign against the Second Amendment, and as he sings the National Rifle Association’s praises.

After Trump was elected, the interest in bunkers has grown.

"There is more interest after Trump’s election – he’s like a loose cannon,” Ed said. “I think he is a pathological liar and is at the helm of the country. I think there’s so much instability in the country that’s growing with Trump at the helm.”

"It started with Obama and it ain’t gettin’ any better under Trump,” Dylan said. “We were hopeful. But it looks like he ain’t delivering.”

"Despite his promises, President Donald Trump isn’t helping. "

"The sudden escalation of the North Korean crisis under President Donald Trump’s regime is concerning, prepper or otherwise."

“There is more interest after Trump’s election – he’s like a loose cannon,” Ed said. “I think he is a pathological liar and is at the helm of the country. I think there’s so much instability in the country that’s growing with Trump at the helm.”

"...one thing is for sure: After Trump was elected, the interest in bunkers has grown."

Well, I guess he got all his anti-Trump talking points in.

Pensmore - located just about 10 minutes from the town where I grew up in Missouri:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pensmore

The article doesn't tell why Wyoming or the other states were chosen, but I wouldn't relocate closer to Yellowstone. Any rural area that is sparsely populated and a good distance from cities - more than 1 tank of gasoline away could make a good place to live NOW as independently as possible and offer better survival chances for most any disaster.

Gardening is a great hobby, and good practice for hard times-finding out what you can grow best where you live, and giving you healthy food to eat.

While stock piling supplies is good for an interim period, eventually, things need to be replenished, so shelter, food, water, and security all need to be immediately available and replenish-able.

I don't think Trump is the problem. The problem is the anti-Trump hi-jinks to be euphemistic.
