That’s the first thing I thought. It looks like the Alaska natives I saw when I lived there. Siberia and Alaska are so close — probably within walking distance if the ice bridge they talk about ever existed. Lots of Russian churches in small towns in AK.
Almond eyes and high cheek bones? Sounds kind of Asian/Amerindian to me. Even in modern times 21 miles is not all that far to boat, and even after the land bridge began to be covered, for a time the distance was less than 21 miles. Personal note: my husband was 1/16th Cree Indian, although he was a blue-eyed redhead. I have mongol tartar from my east Prussian/German ancestry. One of my sons has almond eyes and high cheekbones. Neither I, my other son, or husband had those features. Ah, the fun of genetics.
