Re: Republican candidate, Ed Gillespie, shunned the support of POTUS, Donald J. Trump.
Maybe thats why Gillespie got a higher percentage of the Virginia vote than Trump did? 2017 - Gillespie - Virginia - 45.0% 2016 - Trump - Virginia - 44.4%
First of all, the comparison is of marginal utility, because it involves qualitatively different electoral situations, and second, the difference is very minimal in any event—amounting to nothing more than statistical noise—and certainly not sufficient to prove any point regarding relative support for President Trump (or lack thereof)...
Virginia is weighted by hundreds of thousands Democrat low life government workers. Trump realized this and went after bigger fish like Florida, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, etc.
Ed Gilliespie campaigned hard in Virginia, much more then Trump did....but Gilliespie was a “Never Trumper” and that killed him politically. Case closed.
Re: “not sufficient to prove any point regarding relative support for President Trump (or lack thereof)...”
A large majority of the Comments on this thread claim that Gillespie lost because he rejected Donald Trump.
I was responding to, and rejecting, that basic theme.
If you support that theme, if you think Gillespie would have won with Trump’s support, what fact does prove that Trump has strong relative support in Virginia?
