I just finished the last Longmire episode. It ended cleverly. I thought it was a decent series ruined by stupid things. For example they talk about guns being registered.... In Wyoming!
Then there's the town mayor threatening to fire the County Sheriff. Lol! There was a bunch of other dumb stuff of that sort like the lawsuit against the Sheriff with an adversarial judge. The case would have easily been tossed on appeal. Not to mention that all the jurors personally knew the Sheriff. I found it hard to believe that accusing a Sheriff of being bloodthirsty because he was thought to have shot an escaped murdering psychopath too over the top.
Stupid stuff like that made the show a trial from time to time. Still it was pretty good and I'd recommend it.
I’ll give it a shot.
Anyone out there like Black Mirror..?
I guess it’s super famous but I just heard of it 3 days ago.
About 90% of the NetFlix stuff I try I end up quitting after 10 or 15 minutes.
I also recommend “Ozark” on Netflix.
It was fun. I once got stopped on a back road outside of Las Vegas New Mexico while they filmed a scene.
The show had its flaws, but I liked the actors and the scenery was beautiful.
Is it cancelled? They’re not making any more?
Last season, although they are trying to get a Longmire movie done. I think a movie actually might be an improvement.
I loved the show but absolutely hated the ending. The Sheriff hooking uo with the deputy was the wrongest thing that could have ever occurred in the storyline. As a consequence I will never go back and review any of the episodes.
Done and done.
I thought Episode 1 of Season 5 was just getting too preposterous. Not sure I’ll watch Season 5.i really enjoyed Seasons 1-3, then thought Season 4 was sliding a bit.
Per capital crime in that small Wyoming town must be 1,000X what it is in Chicago. Is Wyoming REALLY that unsafe? It looks quite scary.
I thought it was watchable, although the bar is set so low that “watchable” isn’t saying much.
It was like Murder She Wrote with more cowboys and stereotypes. Who would want to go to a little town in Wyoming or Maine that has a murder every Episodes. That would put the per capita murder rate north of Baltimore.
They should have spent more time on the underlying conspiracies and less on more and more implausible murders. Too many vets with PTSD and drug problems too.
I just learned about Black Mirror on Drudge yesterday when he linked to an article about the robots taking over the world. I watched the first five minutes on my daughter’s new UHD TV and it looks interesting.
Is there any continuity between episodes or are they all self-contained the way Twilight Zone was?
“The Sheriff hooking uo with the deputy was the wrongest thing that could have ever occurred in the storyline.”
Why?
That happened the book a lot sooner than the tv show. The books are good too.
True dat.
Self contained. I’m watching it right now after seeing it mentioned on another thread here. It’s different. The dark side of tech and mainly in the near future.
Free Henry! Lou Diamond Phillips was excellent. Graham Greene is one of my favorite actors.
Another great series is Justified.
Nah, the murder rate in Midsomer County, UK is way worse, old bean.
Loved “Ozark” and am awaiting the next run. Suggested it to my financial advisor/broker and he loved it too. Bring a retired lawyer and enjoying a good swipe at my profession, I also advised him to look at “Better Call Saul,” the prequel to “Breaking Bad,” which does a great job on high school chemistry teachers.
At least they had the guts to depict the corrupt nature of Indian casinos.
Love the Longmire books. Saw a season or two of the Netflix production. Not too bad. Couldn’t get used to Phillips playing Henry Standingbear. He’s a little guy. in the books Standingbear was even bigger than a very big Walt.
The first seasons of Longmire were the best. The most recent season which is Netflix produced suffered from the bad/stupid writing.
The mayor “firing” the sheriff was jaw-dropping ignorant and made me wonder if the writers were not American, maybe Canadian or British. At the very least it is obvious that Netflix was not paying for expert advisors for the writing staff.
