Mine is a constant high pitched eeeeeeee plus an underlying hiissssss. Sometimes I can tune it out, then I read an article like this which triggers the YOU CANT IGNORE ME instruction in my brain.
Loud rock concerts in high school and college, manufacturing factory floors, wood shop and metal shop, unruffled lawn mowers, homemade explosives, exploding bicycle tires, rifle fire, .357 magnum pistols, loud stereos and headphones, CANAM and TRANSAM car races, power plants — you name it, I did it. Nobody ever told me, not once, “watch it, kid...you’ll harm your hearing.” But would I have listened?
Mine is the same as yours, a constant screech with a hisss.
It’s to the point now of interfering with my ability to understand normal conversation.
I catch myself looking at a speakers mouth to make sure I am hearing the right words.
Some nights it even keeps me awake.
I suppose someday I will lose my hearing completely except for this damned noise.
The FDA will never approve any treatment in my lifetime.
I have been exposed to loud noises most of my life. Shotguns, unmuffled farm tractors, unmuffled trucks and motorcycles and loud music.
I've got the high pitch. Used to describe it as similar to the high freq sound from old color tv sets.
Still up there and I think some lower freq thrown in.
Would l o v e to get rid of it.
