Massive snake found in Chapel Trail area near U.S. 27 and Johnson Street
A Pembroke Pines Police officer had his hands full when he responded to a call of a massive Burmese python Thursday night.
Officer Cabrera responded to the Chapel Trail area near U.S. 27 and Johnson Street where he encountered the 12 and a half foot snake.
Cabrera was able to wrangle the python and take it to a police station until a licensed python remover arrived. Officers from the department even posed for a photo with the massive snake.
The department warned residents to not approach pythons but to call 911.
A full body of ribs. I wonder how well they barbecue up?
Why not just shoot it? They are an invasive species.
Right you are! No need for a "snake wrangler". For one thing, handling that snake or even approaching it is EXTREMELY dangerous.
That snake could wrap you up, and squeeze you till your eyeballs literally pop out of your skull. It happens in the blink of an eye, before you even have time to react.
The lawman should have killed it on the spot. Now the "snake wrangler" will "find it a home" or take it back and release it — sheesh!
Love ‘Outlander.” Jamie will save her from that snake.
Lots of snakes in Broward county....
Yuck, but I know you will enjoy this!
Lots of snakes in DC.
“licensed python remover”
Where do you go to school for that?
Likely bestowed by the state to those that pay tribute to have the title and privilege to capture snakes. Govt largess would be my guess - a program run by the state.
The hard part is arranging it all in the smoker ";^)
I was out bass fishing not too far from there (Holiday Park) about a year ago and actually watched a slightly smaller python eating a large iguana. Both are invasive and widespread over there. However, the snakes are eating all the bird eggs as well as other native species. THe iguanas are vegetarians and dont seem to be having a negative impact on the ecosystem.
Yes! Shoot it!
And they can bite the living shit out of you,..and they don’t let go until you cut their head off.
Did anyone think about shooting it?
I read “one weird trick” to get them to let go is to dip their tail in hot water.
You don’t wrangle a giant python. You shoot it, fry it up and make yourself some new boots.
“I read one weird trick to get them to let go is to dip their tail in hot water”
That’s fine if you have free hands and some boiling water handy. To stop their constricting ability it is crucial to not let the tail get anchored around you. They lose their leverage if you can do that. Or so the story goes.
