FULL TITLE:SCRATCH MARKS on doors, carpets caked in filth and closets 'converted into CAGES': Owners of two Texas homes where California house of horror couple lived with their children before relocating reveal the conditions of properties they left behind
The current owners of the two Texas homes where a California couple charged with torturing their 13 children once lived claim to have found scratch marks on doors, as well as closets that may have been used to keep the siblings.
David and Louise Turpin had lived in a home in Fort Worth, Texas from around 1992 to 1999 before they lost it in a foreclosure.
The owners who moved in after them claim the home was left in complete squalor.
They say they found scratch marks on the back of doors and that the carpet was covered in disgusting dirt stains and filth.

Banfield reported that they were all the couples biological children.
I didn’t see skinny kids anywhere. And, the Elvis impersonator didn’t look anything like Elvis.
Apparently, all their kids.
That they left the foreclosed house a wreck?
That is not unusual. When we were house hunting some of the foreclosed houses we looked at were trashed worse then this.
Holes bashed in the walls, animal poop, what looked like a hammer taken to the hardwood floor, quick dry poured down showers, piles of garbage, carpet torn up and bleached.
People get miffed when their house is foreclosed on and they take it out on the property.
Report that children were living in such filth?
For all they knew the family had moved out sometime ago and left the door open for transients to move in.
Heck some people have put their repossessed houses on Craig's List for other people to trash.
I once had to repo a house and had to hunt down the owner who was living two states away. He was sending the payments to his brother so he could pay the mortgage. From the look of things the money was going straight to the local liquor store.
The world of repossessed real estate is a strange one.
I don’t want to know how most people live. I bet you see some lulus.
Calling CPS doesn't always work. They might show up but nothing happens.
