Well, I think you are failing to see the big picture. It sounds to [me] like they are an empowering an agency to go after guns full time and with full force.

Fair enough. That is certainly a valid concern, but I still consider it a win to see government loosing ground rather than continually gaining.

Before Trump, it would have seemed natural to expand to ATF to include sugary drinks as well.

Read the article - the enforcement on alcohol and tobacco is not going away, it will be enforced by a new agency under the Treasury Department. I think the only change is that more time and money will be spent enforcing gun laws against noncriminal citizens.
