Twin Peaks shootout defense attorney says DA office's recusal motion 'reeks of desperation,'(Waco)

Five months after opposing a motion to recuse 19th State District Judge Ralph Strother in the case of a Twin Peaks defendant, prosecutors from McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna’s office filed a last-minute motion Monday morning to remove Strother from hearing two bikers’ cases.

The surprising move came seconds after Strother denied a motion from prosecutors to postpone a hearing set for Monday morning in which attorneys for Cossacks Jorge Salinas and Billy McCree were trying to disqualify Reyna from prosecuting their cases and had four witnesses with damaging testimony about Reyna waiting to testify.

After Strother said the disqualification hearing would proceed, prosecutors Michael Jarrett and Brody Burks presented Strother with the recusal motions, effectively ending the hearing.

Reyna did not attend the hearing.

It was not clear Monday if the state intends to file recusal motions in the roughly 75 Twin Peaks shootout cases that remain pending in Strother’s court.

Defense attorneys Brian Bouffard and David Conrad Beyer called the motion an improper stalling tactic that “reeks of desperation.” Beyer said the motion was filed in “bad faith,” adding that the state is manipulating the court’s docket and should have filed the recusal motion earlier if it truly believed that was the right thing to do.

“The DA’s office continues to speak out of both sides of its mouth as long as it gets to continue avoiding speaking under oath. The true losers today are the citizens of McLennan County, who deserve to hear the truth from their elected official,” Bouffard said.

Reyna is indeed desperate to avoid having HIS activities examined by any legal panel and dreads the sound of approaching legal action & scrutiny directed in his direction.

Trying to drag it out until another ‘Rat presidency?

WPD were so sure this was a slam-dunk and by now they’d have been able to start using force to enact BJ’s wife’s plans for America.

This whole fiasco has Fed Agency insanity injected into it. But Wac(k)o is fertile soil to plant insanity in, and then it multiplies.

Those Fed Agencies I referred to must have some serious surgery applied and soon. I think it may happen, lots of smoke coming from some office building in DC right now.

The one that is seldom mentioned is Homeland Security. Their connection with the FBI is where I think the Biker’s lawsuit complication and those of the mess with the Bundys are rooted. We will probably never be allow to know that part of this nutty operation.

Reyna is doing what any dem operative would do; attempt to silence his opponents “By Any Means Necessary”. BAMN. It’s hard-wired into the far left mindset.

I hope this entire debacle ends up with him penniless, jobless, with him being disbarred and even looking at possible jail time himself for putting all the innocent people there through this nonsense. Were there some wrongdoers there? Probably but it takes two to tango. A handful of bad actors does not warrant the arrest of 200 bystanders and upending their lives indefinitely.

The people responsible for this overreach need to be held accountable and answer for this.

I support the Police, like most here, but there are lanes they and non police must stay in for the system to work. When they don’t we end up with something like this. If police leadership, prosecutors, and undercover cops have to break the law to enforce the law; that is a systemic breakdown. The only way to fix it is to punish those who did that so the next people in that position will know the consequences of their actions if they do the same thing. It’s really not much different than the bad actors in the upper levels of the FBI and DOJ we’ve been learning about. Examples must be made to discourage that kind of corrupt behavior in the future.

Absolutely.

I think somewhere in the woodwork is an invasive Muslim ant trying to make a point where these is none. Trying to say that home grown terrorism is worse threat than Islamist Terrorism.

Cannot put my finger on the connection, but I think it is between Homeland Security and the FBI.

Conspiracy theory? Whatever. It is what I believe, from my point of reference.
