Apple will discontinue the first-generation iPhone X when the second-generation model launches later this year, rather than bump the device down its smartphone lineup for lower than $999, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who clarified his earlier prediction with a follow-up research note today.
Kuo said that Apple keeping the current iPhone X in its smartphone lineup for a reduced price, such as $899, would likely cannibalize sales of the mid-range 6.1-inch iPhone with Face ID and a LCD display that he expects to launch in the second half of 2018 for between $650 and $750 in the United States.

This kind of crap is the principal reason why I don't mess with Apple products.
I wonder how heavily Limbaugh will market the new, cheaper phone?
Sounds like the Apple is rotten and the aura is collapsing.
Ping!.......................
So much for the Apple Resale value index.
Smart biz model.
Good grief, that’s a mortgage payment. Who needs a new phone every time there’s a new model? I’m happy with my old flip phone that does nothing but make phone calls.
After Apple refused to cooperate with the police with a account opened by a thief using my credit card, I have no use for them. Truthfully, didn’t care for them before the incident.
I’m not so sure about this. I’ll wait for another source or a news release from Apple.
If the recently identified holes in the security of Intel chips doesnt get your attention, maybe it should.
Yeah...that marketing tactic just pisses me off. I’m REALLY ticked that Ford isn’t still making the 2016 F-150 and selling it at a reduced price. The NERVE of them to discontinue last year’s model so they can sell this year’s model at a higher price!
That’s the reason I don’t buy ANY new appliances, cameras, cars, trucks, stereo equipment, flat screen TVs or clothes.
Nothing but a bunch of greedy capitalists, I tell you!
...Apple refused to cooperate with the police with an account opened by a thief using my credit card...

WTF The police had your iPhone and were looking for Apples help getting into it? Why didnt YOU open the phone?
Because Ford doesn't send out a kill switch every new model year.....
No doubt about that! However, if anyone can point to me a better phone, Ill buy it today! I loathe Apple Inc., but I know of no better product.
Certainly Samsung and all other Android devices are superior in some key areas. One that strikes my fancy is the ability to instantly upgrade such phones memory instead of having to buy a new phone. And the FaceId isnt a big sell for me for the iPhone (which is why I havent rushed out to get one)
But if you or anyone can assuage my fear regarding Android devices I will drop my iPhone quicker than you can say defective battery: is it, or is it NOT true that all Android devices, including even Googles Pixel, do not update their software regularly to the next OS when it becomes available? For example, Nougat is still the OS on some cheaper phones available. However thats an OS from years ago now as far as Im aware.
Whats up with that? Are these older OSes still secure? I dont see how they could be if no patches are released for them anymore and/or theres no way to upgrade to the latest Android OS on such phones!
Someone please explain to me if Im wrong how Im wrong. Im begging anyone. Because I hate Apple with a passion. I just dont know of any other phone that comes close to the level of security they provide.
Absolutely! That iPhone 1 is all we ever needed.
Didn’t say anything about a phone. The thief was ordering stuff from Apple with a stolen credit card. Apple refused to tell the police where the purchased items were being shipped to and refused to close the account.
Per SwordMaker, January 17, 2018:
Ten year Net Income Compound Annual Growth Rate for Apple is 30.03%. Apple generally takes home more than 90% of all the profits in the Cellular phone market. . . 85% of the mobile tablet market’s profits. . . and greater than 60% of the personal computer market’s profits. . . and AppleWatch took home 80% of the wearable market share profits.
Sounds like they need a lot of help sustaining their meager business.
That is some chart.
My goodness that is damning.
Because Ford doesnt send out a kill switch every new model year.....

When did Ford start using batteries that never age and eventually die?
Where did I say that they are not making a lot of money now? I wonder why you are overreacting. Once this site was crawling with MS fanatics. Apple was for hippie lunes. Now it is the completely opposite. Actually I am wondering where those MS fanatics are now. I got an earful for calling MS product crap and Apple's are better. Overzealously squeezing money from customers is a questionable move in the long term.
