Remember seeing aisles upon aisles of CDs when entering a Best Buy store? By summer, shoppers wont see any CDs in U.S. stores.
The electronic retailer says it will start removing CDs from all U.S. stores starting July 1, according to a report from Billboard. The report says CD sales dropped 18.5 percent last year at Best Buy.
The CD inventory has been shrinking at Best Buy stores for at least 10 years. Billboard said Best Buy will continue to sell vinyl albums and turntables for at least the next two years. The move to digital streams in the music industry has reduced demand for physical products.
Also, Billboard reported major retailer Target may get out of the CD business. The report said Target has issued an ultimatum to music and video suppliers, saying it will carry inventory on a consignment basis or not at all.

do search for vinyl record players and vcrs hehehehehehehehehehnehenhehne
Just when I finally get rid of my 8 track.
Plenty of audiophiles spend thousands on turntables.
There are also many vinyl albums being pressed every day.
Too high end for most, but available nonetheless.
Best Buy. When you really really need something right now. And that’s not what I need. But, dammit I’ll take it because I’m desparate. No returns? Ok.....here’s the VISA.
Should be Best Buy’s new ad campaign.
You don’t need us and we carry crap that might work for a few days until you can get what you really wanted. No returns.
Vinyl records and turntables are easily found on Amazon
90% of all CDs in the US are sold by Amazon.
Why take up space with stock?
They should pull Best Buy from Best Buy. The place is a dump. The most under-educated, lazy, stupid, sad-ass retail salespeople I ever saw in my life. Going to Best Buy is like walking into a sort of purgatory for people who don’t know, don’t know that they don’t know, and don’t give a rat’s ass. Photography... Audio... A/V... All the stuff we were passionate about, Best Buy has found a way to hire the few people in the universe who are solely qualified to watch paint dry and maybe eat a few potato chips.
I have some vinyl from the 70’s, even though I ditched my big “stereo” - remember those from the 90’s - a stack system w/radio, CD player, cassette player and turntable. With enormous speakers.
Maybe the time for a simple turntable has come back.
Our Best Buy is pretty good about returns. Sadly, I know this from the experience of having to return so much defective merchandise.
(And sometimes, your defective returned merchandise gets shrink wrapped and put back on the shelf for another poor sap.)
I agree, Best Buy is the worst! Unreal stupid people work there. I spent about 7 grand there in a year and finally I just couldnt take it anymore
My old Akai reel to reel is gathering dust.
Maybe someone who collects antiques will want it.
The little amp in the machine still sound sweet...
Can you say, Circuit City? Radio Shack? Sure you can.
LOL I actually have that exact walkman in my closet LOL
Now that’s funny. I bought CDs versions of most of my LPs which I still have, which is a good thing or now I’d have to buy them back again.
No one buys CD’s anymore.
Millennials do the digital downloads, while old school guys like me buy vinyl.
AMp warmth....nothing like it!
My experience is 15+ years ago...may not apply now. Never went back to update my opinion. ;)
Lots of loose nerve endings are trying to find their previous homes....so....yeah. I’m just keeping my brain busy.
Could care less about Best Buy, to be honest....but today....I’d go with you to burn one down. XD
Stop it. I still have my giant component stack systems....tower speakers with multiple woofiemidtweets.
My (much) younger cousin helped me move stuff one time....he was like, hey....
You know they make this stuff a lot smaller now, right?
