I know, right? It’s almost like the filthy heathens never even read Luke 5:15 & 16!

That’s the way I always viewed it. Good music, thought-provoking, but not intended to be a depiction of the Gospels.

Not the light, but a reflection of the light. Reflections, even distorted ones, testify in their own way to the brightness of the true light.

I remember going to the theater when it first came out - wasn’t “involved” with my religion at the time but found it interesting. Later on when I had committed myself to Christ, “The Passion of the Christ” moved me big time.

Must be why my brain is firm; not functioning 100 percent, but still firm. JCS was thought to be more ‘hippie’ rather than religious when first appearing. Never saw it stage or screen. HOWEVER, any media which calls attention to our Nation’s Faith, is always welcomed. That CBS airs this does make one wonder how it will be presented. Hippie-like or a true calling for Believers to gather together.

“Bob Greenblatt (NBC Entertainment chairman) called us and said, ‘”Jesus Christ Superstar” Easter Sunday. It’s irresistible.’”

What’s the buzz, tell me what a-happenin’!

Uhhhh,,,no. The original was eclectic enough, mixing imagery. I’ll watch that. Ted Neely had a powerful voice. I have no interest in this remake. Watch the Passion of the Christ instead.

Pass. Another Trump hater in John Legend along with his annoying wife.

Webber is a serial plagiarist.

I prefer the original concept album to the film.

Watch the Passion of the Christ instead.

I have no desire to watch that whatsoever.

I did not grow up in a church going family and JCS is how I learned about the Gospel. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

I’m going to shut it off after Alice Cooper’s part.

I saw a live stage production of JCS many years ago with Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson - both from the film. It was fantastic! I found the movie interesting and the soundtrack has some great music and some lyrics that will haunt you.

I am not thrilled with the casting of John Legend as Jesus, but will be watching.

"I’m going to shut it off after Alice Cooper’s part."

Then you won't miss much. Alice sings King Herod's song which comes toward the end of the production.

Meh. I’ll pass, most TV stuff is crap anyway.

The movie was second rate.

The meme of the original production, blasphemous, in that it denies the Divinity of Christ.

True. Mary sings “He’s a man, He’s just a man, and I’ve had so many men before, in very many ways, He’s just one more,” implying they slept together and certainly saying there’s nothing special about Him.

It also slurs the Apostles “Always thought that I’d be an Apostle, knew that I could make it if I tried, then when we retire we could write the Gospels and they’d still talk about us when we die,” implying they were only following Jesus for the fame and adulation.

Looking forward to this.

As was I. But I have been disappointed. It is lacking. For starters, there should be no audience. Period. It detracts for the pathos and the passion inherent in the entire production.

Second. NBC or whomever produced this has changed the lyrics. Caiaphas has a line that states, "One thing I'll say for him, Jesus is cool."
This was changed to, "Infantile sermons and the crowds will just drool."

Why? Is it so painful for the Lib a-holes to leave in any lines glorifying His holy name or justifying His existence? I turned it off as soon as I heard that. And I know every line by heart so it jumped out as soon as I heard it.

And lastly...why did they broadcast it on Easter Sunday? The rock opera has no mention of His resurrection. It ends at the Crucifixion. Why not broadcast it on Good Friday? The only reason is money.

"My temple should be a house of prayer but you have made it a den of thieves" comes to mind.

Most disappointed was I.

And finally, it stops abruptly at the death on the Cross

That's where the opera ends as written. Thus, Good Friday would have been the appropriate night for the broadcast.
