A woman purported to be the oldest living person ever at 128 says she hasn't lived a single happy day in her life and her longevity is "a punishment".
The Russian government claims Koku Istambulova is the world's oldest person.
But she has bluntly said her longevity "was God's will" and she "did nothing to make it happen".
While some people chalk it up to a healthy or active lifestyle, "tired" Koku said: "I have no idea how I lived until now."
Due to turn 129 in two weeks, she added: I have not had a single happy day in my life."
-snip-
The claim was made by the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation and is based on Koku's internal passport which shows her date of birth as 1 June 1889.
If correct, Koku - who shuns meat and loathes soups, but loves fermented milk - was already 27 when the last tsar, Nicholas II, was forced to abdicate in March 1917. She was 55 when the Second World War ended in 1945, and 102 when the Soviet Union collapsed a generation ago in 1991.

Must be a Democrat...
B.E.C.A.U.S.E: COMMUNISM!
128 years and not a single happy day? She must be fun at parties...
Her brain chemistry and neural pathways are, by now, in such a negative track, that I doubt she could change her negative thinking.
Over half her life in the Soviet Union Including the salad days of WW2 and Josef Stalin.
They have either discovered the oldest person in the world or the longest-running pension fraud.
Yes, maybe Bernie should remind her of how peachy life must have been under Uncle Joe.
Sad. She probably never had an opportunity to create a happy life in Russia. And look at how many people do in America, and throw it away.
She was brought up Muslim. Grandmother beat her because her neck showed.
It must be a mistake. The maximum life span allotted to human is 120 years.
If this is true, she either is a miracle or is an immortal.
Take your pick.
“Oldest living person ever at 128 wishes she had died young and says her longevity is a punishment”
I can say the same for George Soros
Jeanne Calment passed at 122.5 years. With multiple official records proving her exact age
Pension fraud, Japan had a bunch of these cases as well. A lot ended up being corpses with a mailing address. Keep that check a coming.
My spent most of her career working at multi-level care facilities. I spent a huge amount of time volunteering wherever she was working. We just spent the day at a nursing home yesterday putting on a historical display.
Although they might have some interesting insight... you really can’t take what most centenarians say very seriously. Most of them have cognitive issues. If they had talked to her on a different day she could easily have told them that she didn’t have one unhappy day in her entire life of scratching out a living in the dirt.
“She must be fun at parties...”
Well, if she brings enough of that fermented yak milk..
Maybe God has given her a long life waiting for her to finally have a happy day.
Attitude is so important. Whatever tragedies happened to this woman, to never have a happy day, has to be a choice that she’s making.
A story: Friend of mine was an insurance agent. For some reason some gypsies came in to settle a claim or something. He asked a middle aged lady for her social security number and she handed him her s.s. card. As he accepted it, he looked down and saw he already had the information but the name and numbers did not match the card she just handed him. He said something and the lady said, “Oh, I gave you the wrong card.” She then handed him the correct one. Upon doing some research, he found that gypsies don’t report their dead to the government but bury them without permits. Just before death, the person bequeaths his or her ‘identity’ to a loved one of choice, who goes on collecting.
So, not only are some people receiving benefits of several people, they are passing themselves off as older than they are. Behemoths like the Social Security Administration doesn’t usually catch them.
In summation: When someone says they are of a great age, I will believe it when someone, a dentist or the like, can confirm it.
She lived nearly 30 years before the communists took over the Revolution.
Assuming she retired at 65, she’s been collecting her pension for nearly as long as she’s been retired.
