I stayed home from work to watch the memorial service, I cried through the whole thing. I also remember that the rotunda stayed open overtime for many hours because there were so many people waiting to go through and pay their respects.
Our house back yard bordered the Reagan Library property. As soon as I heard the news, I walked to the corner of Madera Rd. and Presidential Dr., and already the corner was covered with flowers and other mementoes. After just 24 hours the flowers, etc., were everywhere, lining the streets.
Shuttle buses ran by our bedroom window day and night taking people to the Library to pay respect while his body was there.
Everybody was so somber and quiet — except the media. They invaded our subdivision streets and were rude. (Some things never change.)

Oh, so your son’s birthday is June 7 also? :-D
Every year...funny how that works. :>)
