I fondly remember the days of Rod Langway, Mike Gartner, Al Jensen, Bengt Gustafsson, Scott Stevens, and others from the Caps teams of the mid 1980s.

Those Capitals of the late 1980s were among the best teams never to win the Stanley Cup, in my mind. Take the players you listed and add Dale Hunter, Larry Murphy, Kevin Hatcher, Mike Ridley, Dave Christian and Garry Galley ... you've got a great team, for sure.

Just look at the defenseman: Murphy, Stevens, Hatcher ... and future Hall of Famer Rod Langway was probably the FOURTH BEST defenseman on that team!
