Maybe it was windy when they took the picture of the statue.
It’s a 26-foot statue. It will be rather difficult for pervs to defile it with, um, coming up short. Beats the heck out of the one that was done for Lucille Ball.
Nonetheless, is this really what we want to see commemorated in public parks?
Feminists fight anything visual to men.
><
They certainly do. They are all unattractive and jealous of good looking women.
My only thought is that the statue is a depiction of Marilyn passing gas.
Last year, we visited NYC for a week. Our main focus was the George Washington Trail, but we also visited many tourist must-see sites. Among them was Wall Street and the now famous bull statue. It was appalling to me to see tourists taking photos of one another as they were posing in odd ways with the bull’s back end and genitalia. Gross.
They can be thankful it wasn’t a statute of Kim Kardashian or they’d have had to expand the park to have room for it.
Yuck. You really have a disgusting mind.
I like Unitarians. It’s sort of that iffy place for agnostics to go if they’re undecided but like the ceremony.
Didn’t know the Congregationalists had gone that route. My only study of Protestantism is reading up on the belief structures of my many minister ancestors. So my idea of “current religion” stops around 1800, back when the Congregationalists, Dutch Reform and Presbyterians used to wander freely through each other’s churches.
Agreed. Gross.
If I was a member of that congregation I’d be very tempted to take that statue down. But first I’d have to remove the rainbow flag from the church. Or am I misunderstanding the significance of the rainbow flag?
Beautiful but a skank.
I’ve had a number of gay friends over the years who are deeply involved with their local churches. CT does tend to be quite liberal, so I’d be surprised if that WASN’T a typical Gay Pride flag.
Yale has a set of letters from Gov William Livingston to my minister g6gf mentioning how good it was that the minister was marrying a virgin so she wouldn’t be able to compare him with anyone else. So I’m guessing they were fairly raunchy back in their day, as well.
Hollywood. Goes with the territory. Hasn’t changed.
The rainbow banner on the church is more offensive than the statue.
What’s even more offensive is having us look at a rainbow banner in any other way than the love and grace of God.
I’m not in favor of Gay Pride. I’m in favor of people doing their own thing, mostly behind closed doors. I certainly think people who disagree with that philosophy shouldn’t be forced to support it. But if that’s the operating principle of that particular congregation, then I’ll support them, too.
Disgusting in SOOO many ways.
You mean low-class sexual obsessives.
Not to gentlemen.
This thing has zero place in the public eye. If it is inappropriate for children, it is indecent for public display.
Have we no decency?
A church putting that banner above their front door declares that they worship the sin of sodomy and not God.
No, it says that they encourage a congregation that includes gays. And if you’re gay, this is a place that you’ll find fellow religionists. Everyone deserves the right to their own religious beliefs, be they straight or gay.
yessssss....that one.
