A few weeks ago Hillary Clinton stated that 40% of Democrats are Socialists.
What she neglected to mention that of the remaining 60%, half are hard core Communists and the other half might be Sane. Time will tell.
Maybe She knows how to hold onto power
A Socialist WOULD HAVE won the democrat nomination for President, except Hillary rigged the nomination process.

I can explain. Nancy hasn’t the foggiest idea what “ascendent” means. She probably thinks it means something about your ancestors.
Okay…you convinced me, Nancy. Democrats aren’t socialists. They are simply fools who vote for “free stuff.” The Gibsmedats never learn that nothing is free, and when the Haves stop having, the Have-nots starve. There are dozens of dead economies around the world as proof.

Joe Crowley lost his election to a 28-year-old Democratic Socialist even though he spent $3 million on his campaign.
Where did that money come from?
It was raised by leading Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer whose fundraising prowess is based on their ability to intimidate potential donors.
Their shake-down artistry consists of Nancy and Chuck strongly implying that unless potential donors cough up huge amounts of money into Democratic coffers, Democratic officials will use their power to punish their businesses, Wall Street banks, etc.
But how long can this go on if the Democrats continue to be powerless by continuing to not having control of the presidency, the bureaucracy, or Congress?
And then along comes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who gives bankers and business owners a lot more to worry about than anything Nancy Pelosi could ever inflict — namely, socialist policies that would destroy the free market.
It makes no sense now for anyone but socialists to support the Democratic party as the Ocasio-Cortezes of the Left gain power, which they are doing, despite Nancy Pelosi’s Big Lie that they aren’t.
But, of course, the Ocasio-Cortezes don’t need money, as Ms. Cortez proved by beating a candidate who spent $3 million dollars against her. What they need, they have — a few hundred enthusiastic organized left-wing supporters per district.
They stoke these flames, and then deny it. What a joke!
Pelosi is (was) a member of the DSA, is a communist, and lies about either connection in her past (present.)
Nancy doesn’t seem to understand that socialists have

I think the Dems know this and are willing to accept the socialist as part of there coalition to remain a national party. I’m not sure they have much choice. Socialist probably are close to outnumbering blue collar Democrats.

No. Progressivism itself was designed to lead to communism. Go read their own writing from the early days. To get there, it had to change the American way of thinking. The NRA and New Deal was not an endpoint. It was just a mind-changer in their very patient game.
Remember that fascism is just communism without the international element. But, the Great Depression gave them a golden opportunity to take a nation of individualists and force them to think like serfs who belong to the government.
