And why do jumped-up media types who fancy themselves the Accountability Police Speaking Truth To Power agree to be housed inside a government building even if it is the White House?
The WH press gaggle is an anachronism from the days of train and steamship timetables when even the president had to travel by those means and the media had to attend in order to transmit/file stories by deadline.
Obviously with global instantaneous communications this is no longer the case and the WH press are merely actors in Political Theatre in which even Republicans hope that Joe Sixpack is impressed by a reporter standing on the lawn with the big white columns behind him. Every person reads identical press releases verbatim and claims that he is a ‘reporter’ and that the press release is ‘news’ despite most people having seen it hours before.
